What’s your idea of paradise? If it’s an island in the Pacific Ocean with a luxury resort built by a millionaire, then you’ll love Hayman Island.

Hayman is the most northerly of the Whitsunday Islands off the east coast of Australia, overlapping the Great Barrier Reef in Northern Queensland. The resort itself, built by aeronautical millionaire Reg Ansett in the ‘50s, holds the record as Australasia’s most awarded luxury nature-resort.

After a series of transformations, Hayman Island Resort is now a true luxury retreat. Its most recent renovation was in 2011 after a series of tropical cyclones forced the island to close for several months due to extensive damage.
Now, I could waffle on and on about how beautiful this place is, but I think I’ll let the pictures do all the talking.

Hayman is the definition of a luxury island resort. Put it on your bucket list.

South of Hayman, on the other side of Whitsunday Island, is Hamilton Island, which we have also been to. You can find out more about that trip here!
