I’ve got to say I do love a long weekend and Easter always proffers the longest of the lot. Mrs Romance and I were a bit embarrassed when we looked the Health app thing on our phones to see how many steps we’d done this Easter… anyway, that’s what weekends are for, right?
Still, we’ve had a pretty busy week all the same. Here’s our latest Instagram Diary – Mrs Romance speaks, the SCG lights up and a Royal Caribbean lunch in Italy.
I’m out at Woolloomooloo today – a place in Sydney I try to say as much as possible. Not only is it fun to say, it also needs regular practice. Down in the water among the amazing yachts, there are millions of moon jellyfish. It’s kind of gross but fascinating at the same time.
Why am I at Woolloomooloo? Well, I’m here to have lunch with the new Managing Director of Royal Caribbean Cruises Adam Armstrong. RCL are also launching 2 new ships. The Harmony of the Seas, which will be the biggest cruiser in the world, will be floating a mammoth 6700 guests around the European coast.
The Ovation of the Seas will be based right here in Sydney, which shows how popular cruising has become to us Aussies now.
Best of all, we’re eating at Otto Ristorante, one of my favourite Italian restaurants here in Sydney. Amazing views over the harbour and the city, and excellent food to boot. This chicken is wrapped in the thinnest pancetta I’ve ever seen.
While I’m wining and dining, Mrs Romance is doing it tough! She’s speaking at the latest Mumbrella conference on social influencers. She’s met up with Sam from School Mum and Sarah from The Remarkables Group – it’s good to see everyone’s obeying the correct dress code and uniform, isn’t it?
These gluten free macadamia shortbread cookies are so good. Mrs Romance particularly likes the C shaped one – of course! These are perfect for a choc-free alternative to Easter recipes. However, if you’re still looking for Easter inspiration (the place I’d go if I were looking for extraordinary sweet recipes), check out our top 11 Easter treats we’ve been drooling over this year.
This is the perfect night for a picnic with the in-laws down on the harbour. Nibbles, laughs and a lengthy game of bocce – perfect.
I’m out at the SCG (Sydney Cricket Ground) to watch the Swans kick off their season. I’m still trying to fully understand Aussie Rules, but while I’m at it, the sun setting over the old members’ stand makes for the most amazing shot. I’m busy watching the game so minimal editing here too!
Ed. The Swans smashed the current champions Collingwood by about 70 points – what a start to the season!
While I’m out, I can’t have Mrs Romance going thirsty. I’ve made up a single serve martini and left it in the freezer for her. Yes, I should get an award for best husband… or maybe as an enabler. Hmm. Didn’t think about that!
How’s my gin collection looking by the way?!
Getting very excited about Mrs Romance’s up-coming Braid Bar. Her latest workshop is a daddy-daughter session teaching dads how to do their little girls’ hair. It’s the perfect time for dads to bond with their daughters without yanking clumps of hair out – plus it means no more boring old ponytails!

Tonight we’re being treated to an unusual firework display. It’s a good 15 minute show right in front of our office. No idea what it’s celebrating but that’s ok!
Mrs Romance and I have finished the Easter weekend with a bit of a date night. A trip to the movies and then dinner.
We saw The Revenand to see how Leo finally got his Oscar. I enjoyed it but Mrs R wasn’t too impressed. Lucky we sneaked a Lindt chocolate bunny in to keep her entertained during the film!
As for dinner, we’re enjoying the amazing ribs at Ms G’s. I reckon they’re the best ribs in Sydney. If you come here, make sure you get the deep fried eggplant and the cheeseburger spring rolls too!
Yet another parting gift from my strange alter ego Angry Bastard. It seems this cloud over the Anzac Bridge has caught AB’s attention. And no wonder – it contains the Monty Python stomping foot! That’s not going to do the traffic any good, is it?
How was your Easter break? Did you get up to anything good? Was your week hassled by the mighty boot of the Pythons? Tell us all about it in the comments!
Sonia from Sonia Styling
What a week! Seems like you guys had an absolute cracker. Our Easter was lovely – the perfect mix of getting some jobs done around the house, catching up with friends, and spending quality time together. Plenty of eating and drinking. Just as it should be! x
Mr Romance
That sounds spectacular, Sonia! That’s what the long weekend’s all about, isn’t it? Love your work – makes me wish we lived nearer you actually!

Jaylene - Fantastic Chaos
What a busy week you both had. I never worry about steps during a long weekend – they’re made for rest and relaxation only 🙂
Mr Romance
I think we’re talking the same language, Jaylene! I also have a feeling Mrs R and I have made up for our long weekend of doing as little as possible with all the running around we’ve been doing during the week! Hope you had chance to put your feet up by the way!
