Day 10 of our 30 Cocktails in 30 Days Challenge: Wendy’s Berry Punch
We hope you’re all enjoying our cocktail showcase and trying out our recipes with your friends. To make this experience a more communal one, we thought we’d include this delicious punch.
Wendy is Mrs Romance’s sister’s mother-in-law (don’t laugh but it took me a while to work that one out). Wendy brought this punch round last Christmas and it was a big hit. It’s juicy and fresh and perfect for hot weather.
We also found that, because the main spirit is vodka, you can vary the potency of this drink without spoiling the flavour too much. It’s even pretty good as a mocktail – though you didn’t hear that word here!
How to make Wendy’s Berry Punch
Here’s what you need:
For a jug of punch
- 1 cup of vodka
- 1.5 litres cranberry juice
- 1.25 litres lemonade
- 1 lime sliced
- 1 lemon sliced
- Mixed berries
- Jug or punch bowl
- Thin strips of orange rind to garnish
- Mason or jam jars to serve
Here’s what you do:
- Peel an orange then cut the rind into thin strips – twist them round into spirals
- Put the fruit into the jug or bowl
- Pour in the vodka and cranberry juice
- Mix the ingredients with a long spoon
- Pour in the lemonade and stir gently
- Chill for an hour before serving
If you’re in a hurry, you can put ice in with the berries before you add the vodka and mixers but it will water the punch down. Alternatively you could serve the punch over ice in the jars.
