Winter’s really pitched in this week. We’ve been expecting it here in Sydney for a while, but the warm weather’s kept us hoping the chilly days wouldn’t come.
Anyway, this week’s made us think about our trip to Asia recently – all those lovely warm days and balmy evenings. Keep your eye open over the rest of this week for our tips on how you can get yourself out of this Aussie winter without any planning or budgeting.
Plus a great competition where you’ll be able to win a load of money for flights! But more about that later.
For now, hope you enjoy our latest IG Edition and we’ll see you again soon! x
Flashback to Thailand – we walked along a beautiful beach in Hua Hin to these old beached fishing rigs. Every night they’re sailed out to sea by the local fishermen to hunt out catches for the next day’s dinner.
Love the patterns in the sand here. And the shallow lagoon between the boats and the sea is full of life. Lovely part of the Thai coast here.
Our pool villa in Hua Hin, south of Bangkok, is absolute bliss. It’s part of the Aleenta hotel group. Watch this space for our low-down on this little bit of Thai paradise.
Back in Sydney, we’re in the Australian Olympic Committee offices in the Museum of Contemporary Art today. To celebrate and support the Green and Gold at this term’s Olympics in Brazil, Cadbury’s has released two new flavours.
The Lamingtons flavour chocolate with real pieces of jam and coconut and apple crumble with crunchy biscuity pieces and apple.
Both are surprisingly moreish – especially as I genuinely don’t like lamingtons -and I think will be a big hit in this Olympics.
Tonight we’re at the Grounds of Alexandria for their latest spectacle. The styling here is beyond the most amazing. Love what they do here.
The night at the Grounds continues. It’s a hillbilly circus theme with jugglers, bluegrass musicians, a charcoal corn cooker and loads of other amazing things tomorrow.
Even though the nights are getting very cold here in Sydney, the sky’s still doing the right thing. The light’s been absolutely amazing this week just at sunset. Well worth keeping an eye out and a camera handy around sundown.
This week’s travel recap
Each week we go back in time over some of our favourite travel destinations using never-before-seen photos of our travels. Here’s where we’ve been looking back on this week.
The waters around Naples is stunning… busy, but stunning. Mrs R has really outdone herself with this incredible shot just at sunset over this amazing southern city.
Tuscany is one of the best places on earth for great street photography. There always seems to be something going on even in the quietest streets of the littlest village.
Check out our posts on our favourite part of Italy here.
The most beautiful beach on the world – as according to Trip Advisor. And us too! Mrs Romance’s flight over this iconic beach has proved incredible.
This classic sculpture by Robert Indiana is a real focal point in NYC. There are hundreds like this all over the world, but this one must be the best! So iconic.
The sand along Hyams Beach south of Sydney is said to be one of the whitest sand’s in the world. It’s a sensational place for a beach retreat no matter what time of year. Especially if you’re in Sydney, this is a top spot to go to.

The Matsumoto Castle in Japan is absolutely superb. Such an iconic scene in the middle of the Japanese countryside. And there’s plenty more to do round here as well.
Here are our tips on what you can do in this part of Japan!
I know we keep going on about it, but the view out over the island of Capri is just unbelievable. When we were here, it was the middle of the Italian summer but we still managed to get away from all the crowds.
