Today we’re thinking about all the things that have inspired our travels.
We’ve started by talking about five books that have given us the motivation to see the world.
We’re still working on where we should go this year – but I think we’re getting there.
Our Instagram competition has come to an end today. Here’s the winning photo by Y Travel Blog of a beautiful sunrise out on the Great Ocean Road.
This photo has won Caz and Craig Makepeace a signed copy of The Clean Living Cookbook. Written by Scott and Luke from My Kitchen Rules, this book is all about a clean and healthy diet using the Paleo system. There are some great recipes in there. I’m sure the Makepeaces will be happy with it.
There were some excellent entries into our competition. Here they are. Congratulations and thanks to everyone who took part.
We take a trip to the Art Gallery of New South Wales this afternoon. Haven’t been here for ages.
‘Rally’ by Nick Savva is over 50 metres long and the largest single installation to be housed in the AGNSW. It’s a great concept and the fans attached to the walls makes the whole thing shimmer and move. It’s right in the main entrance of the gallery.
Mrs Romance is up early again and down by the harbour for her workout. For some reason she enjoys running up and down stairs. These aren’t her favourite stairs but they make for a great view of the Opera House.
Mrs Romance has left for Melbourne. Her first breakfast there doesn’t look bad, does it?
And her first sunset is even more impressive.
Mrs Romance has a toothpaste revelation. They don’t come along very often, but this one’s very interesting. She says this choc mint flavoured toothpaste is delicious – and an interesting diet strategy!
Today I head to Tio’s Cerveceria, a cool little bar full of tequila, taco and tunes. This Surry Hills gem is our Friday Drinks venue this week. Check out the review of Tio’s here.
Pretty sure we’ll end up here tonight!
It’s Friday night and I’m waiting for my mates to finish work. They were supposed to knock off earlier but they’ve been delayed. That’s okay though. I use this time to chill on my balcony with a glass of cab sauv, my book and a little Montecristo No. 5. It’s the perfect start to what turns into a crazy night.
With Mrs Romance over in Melbourne this weekend, we started talking about what we do when either of us is away on a work trip. Here’s our He Said, She Said on it.
Meanwhile, Mrs Romance’s trip to Melbourne gets to the business end. Sort of. She’s met up with Terez known as DBabetta, who’s over from the States running a conference Mrs R is set to talk at. Their riverside glass of vino seems to be going well!
I, on the other hand, am at home recovering from the hangover Friday night caused. I use the catharsis of cooking curry to help me through.
I’m clearly suffering – I make a 5-hour slow-cook beef vindaloo, a tandoori mushroom and paneer, chicken saagwala and a chana masala. I also make some black truffle and coriander saffron rice, which goes quite well.
Hangover: fixed.
Of course Mrs R meets up with Carly from smaggle.com while she’s in Melbourne. Wouldn’t you?
It’s a beautiful day today, so I go for a walk down to the waterfront. Woolloomooloo Wharf is such a pretty place – especially when the sun’s out.
In Melbourne, Mrs Romance gets her lunch on in Brunswick. Not a bad looking coffee. And the omelettes served in their own skillets look good enough to eat. 🙂
After my walk, I decide it’s time for a spot of lunch too. It’s no Brunswick omelette but this bacon egg roll does the trick. I settle down to a Sunday in front of the TV and my laptop. I’m currently double-screening the Back to the Future trilogy.
No better franchise to work to, if you ask me!
What film do you like to ‘watch’ while you work?
