So this is it! The last day of our challenge. The funny thing is we thought this would be much easier than it really has been. We really hope you’ve enjoyed following our challenge and that you’ve tried the recipes we’ve shared with you.

Tomorrow – July 1st – our cocktail ebook ‘How to Host the Perfect Cocktail Party’ will be available for you to buy. It’ll have all the cocktail recipes we’ve featured in our challenge.

There will also be another 7 bonus cocktails as well as loads of other great features, jargon, tips and recipes for home bar and cocktail party essentials.

Day 30: the Long Island Iced Tea.

Now, onto our final drink. This is my absolute favourite. Maybe because it’s got as many spirits in it as a cocktail can have. Maybe it’s just because it tastes great. Maybe it’s a little from both bags. It’s a drink I order whenever I can.

The Long Island Iced Tea is a very strong drink for such a long cocktail. The mix of so many spirits can be a little daunting. The good news is the rule is the lighter the spirit, the lighter the hangover. As all the alcohol in this drink is white, you shouldn’t have too much of a hangover the next day.

And FYI, we don’t use the word ‘hangover’ here. At Romance Media, we refer to it as ‘Cocktail Flu’.

Here’s what you need:

For each drink

  • Single measure of white rum
  • Single measure of vodka
  • Single measure of tequila
  • Single measure of gin
  • Single measure of Cointreau
  • Single measure of lemon and lime juice
  • ½ measure of sugar syrup
  • Top up with Coke
  • Ice
  • Thin orange slice to garnish the edge of the glass
  • Straight glass and straws
  • jigger measure

Here’s what you do:

  1. Put ice in the glass and build the drink in the glass.
  2. Pour the spirits in order over the ice: Rum, vodka, tequila, gin, Cointreau.
  3. Then pour in the lime and lemon juice and sugar syrup.
  4. Carefully top up the glass with Coke. This is what gives the drink the ‘iced tea’ look.
  5. Garnish the glass with the orange slice and straws.
  6. Get comfortable.
