For a minute there, I thought the bad weather here in Sydney was behind us. The skies cleared, the rain stopped and the sun popped its head out.
Obviously seeing we were having too much fun, then noticing everything’s just too damp here, the sun changed its mind and buggered off again. That’s right. It’s raining again.
Mrs Romance and I were talking about this just this morning saying how sorry we felt for people who’ve booked a two-week holiday to Sydney – and there must be plenty of them. Can you imagine thinking ‘right, I’m off to Australia – hottest place on earth’ then getting here to this. Horrible.
So to all the holiday-makers in town at the moment, sorry about the weather!
To celebrate the coming of a new Nespresso machine – it’s pretty fancy, I’ve got to say – and a new Nespresso coffee type, we’ve been invited to the launch party tonight. The theme is travelling around the world through coffee. Behind Mrs Romance’s cocktail, you can see a map of the world inside a giant Ferris wheel like the London Eye.
There’s also a laser projection of the world in the ground at our feet so we can walk across continents. If only it were that easy!
The cocktail by the way is an espresso caipirinha, which we’ll tell you more about – maybe on Friday.
The trip around the world with Nespresso is amazing. Starting first in India with a man playing a sitar. He’s amazing, but I suddenly and inexplicably feel the need to watch The Party with Peter Sellers.
The journey ends in Brazil with these amazing Brazilian dancers. It’s an amazing show.
I manage to keep my head down low enough for them not to pick on me, but one of the dancers gathers up Mrs Romance and drags her onto the dance floor. I think they could sense my two backward-facing left feet. Mrs R does superbly though – the coffee seems to have helped too!
Today, we’re catching up with our mate Steph from LipstickAndCake.com. It’s been way too long and it’s great to see her, but I’m afraid my meeting with this has overshadowed our catch-up.
We’ve come to Birchgrove for lunch at Charlotte Cafe – a bit of a local institution. I’ve got to say I wasn’t expecting this when I ordered the Charlotte Burger… I should’ve known better!
Keep your eyes peeled for more on our trip to Charlotte Cafe – our full review’s coming up.
Steph from LipstickAnd Cake.com has just come back from the States. She’s a lovely lady – my opinion being reinforced by an amazing gift bag of goodies she’s brought back for us. Among these delights is a packet of these! Yes, it’s a triple-decker Oreo! Genius!
We’re so excited today. Our amazing, inspiring friends Caz and Craig Makepeace have published our freelance piece on Cuba on their award-winning travel site yTravelBlog.com today! We’re sharing our top 27 travel tips on what you should know before you travel to Cuba.
If we missed Cuba before, writing this piece has really made us reminisce. Such an amazing country.
How has your week been? Any Godzilla type burgers or weird dance-offs with scantily dressed Brazilian women going on? Tell us in the comments!
Sonia from Sonia Styling
We managed to sneak in a visit to Burger Republic (our local) on Saturday night and my cheeseburger craving was more than satisfied. Had a big sporty day yesterday (totally unlike me) watching Game 7 of the LA Clippers in the NBA Playoffs followed by lunch at the pub to watch the big fight (Manny was robbed). x
Mr Romance
Burger Republic, ay? Sounds like my kinda place, Sonia. Add it to the list, please. Love that you went to watch a bit of sportif – though the idea of you watching basketball did make me chuckle – yes, I’ll expect a punch for that next time I see you! Totally think Manny was robbed – but now there’s controversy in him not notifying people of an existing shoulder injury he’s now blaming the loss on. Weird. I do think he could’ve done better, but that scumbag Mayweather – as big an arsehole as he is – outboxed Manny on the night. Very frustrating to watch such defensive tactics. Anyhoo, have a goodun and see you next week!

Wow! Birchgrove? Charlotte Cafe? You’re in my backyard now! Glad to see you’re enjoying Sydney as much as we do 🙂
Mr Romance
Hi Brona – yes, Sydney’s a great place to live, isn’t it? Since that post, we’ve actually moved to Balmain too! I think it was an excellent decision!
