We’ve had enough of Milan. It’s just not cool enough. So what’s the answer? Easy. We go to Lake Como.
It’s easy to get to Como from Milan. There’s a two-hour train that takes you right there. We arrive to a perfect day; warm sun, and boats bobbing along and on the pristine surface of the most beautiful lake we’ve ever seen.
We stroll around the flagged streets of Varenna and find little archways to the water’s edge.
Among the hills of Varenna, there are little shops and bars lining the steep streets and alleyways. The views are still amazing.
We get back down to the shoreline and find a gelatoria. We don’t even try and resist this temptation. Well, why would you?
We take the ferry out to Bellagio. It’s beautiful here and we find a little bar called Punto on the edge of the lake. The sun is just heading towards the western horizon.
We head back to Varenna and stroll around a bit more. Finally we settle on a restaurant with seats far enough away from the path to be out of the crowd and close enough to the water to watch the sunset. It’s officially aperitivo hour!
We have another drink and decide to have some food here too. The pizza I order is awesome!
The sun finally disappears on one of the most memorable days we’ve ever had. We head back to Milan feeling refreshed, relaxed and totally impressed.
