The week’s really zipped by to the point where I’ve only just realised – 2 days late – that it’s November already! I’ve got a feeling it’s going to be Christmas way too soon and I’ll be doing my gift shopping on Christmas Eve as usual.
Anyway, stay in the moment, stay in the moment. You can’t save time, only spend it and all that. Here’s latest edition of our Instagram Diary. Enjoy!
Tonight we’ve been invited to a quite excellent dinner of chocolate at the Guylian Café in the Rocks. I didn’t realise what a lovely story was behind this brand – but like all these old names, there’s a lovely yarn to this one too.
Guylian is the first example of the Brangelina Kimye TomKat phenomenon. The young Belgian couple Guy and Liliane Foubert created the brand when they were married in 1958 and combined their names to create an entirely new style of Belgian choc. Guy was a passionate chocolatier and Liliane designed the shiny marbled seashells the brand is now famous for.
As for our night of indulgence, I can safely say the desserts they make at the Guylian Café are worth going to the Rocks for.
We’ve decided to take a walk along Sydney Harbour foreshore this morning. It’s that perfect mix of warm sun and cool breeze from those clouds. Such a pretty city – even when it’s cloudy!
You know the summer’s not far off when the jacarandas start to flower. My friend hates them because of all the mess they make. I don’t have to clean them up so I’m still enchanted with how they look. Love the colours of the purple and blue together.
Today we’re talking about San Diego and its rooftop bars. Southern California has the perfect climate for open-air dining and drinks anyway, but when you’ve got this beautiful city right on the water with some of the friendliest people you can meet, San Diego really is the perfect environment for rooftop bars.
Here are our top 3 rooftop bars in San Diego. If you’ve been to San Diego but you haven’t visited these places, I’m sorry to say it but you’ve missed out! Time to get back there. What a good excuse!
Tonight we’re heading to Mrs Romance’s sister’s house for a very special party. And what better way to make this particular party even more special than these incredible doughnuts?! Can’t wait for Mrs Romance to put it down so I can start munching!
And this is the party! It’s a fishing party but with a difference.
A few years ago, Mrs R’s brother-in-law came up with the idea of putting their outdoor pool, which isn’t heated, to good use over the winter when it’s too cold to swim. He stopped chlorinating the pool, bought some baby rainbow trout and grew them throughout the winter. Come the end of October every year, the fish have grown to around a foot in length and are ready to eat.
Everyone comes round and we fish for our dinner! It’s so much fun – it’s also the only place Mrs Romance has caught a fish!
I’m quite impressed with myself – not only have I caught a fish (twice!) I’ve done it all without putting my beer down!
We’re getting very excited with what’s coming up next weekend. On 7th November, Mrs Romance and Carly from Smaggle.com are running their next Little Blog Big workshop. This time we’re heading to Brisbane and it’s going to be a good one. We’ve also got a guest speaker – the illustrious Nikki from StylingYou.com.au has agreed to talk to the group.
If you haven’t got your tickets yet, better hurry up; they’re selling out fast. Click here or on the picture above to go to the ticket options.
There will be 2 more Little Blog Big Sessions after Brisbane:
Canberra on 14th November and then Sydney on 28th November.
I leave you this week with the whitest bomb you’ll ever see! But I think I’ve kept pretty good form, don’t you?!
How was your week? Where and when did you catch your first fish? Have you started your Christmas shopping yet (please say no!)? Tell us in the comments!
Sonia from Sonia Styling
I love how committed you were to your pool bomb, Jim. Truly admirable! x
Mr Romance
Totally committed, Sonia! Wasn’t sure how cold it was going to be so it took quite a it of preparation before I jumped! Glad it wasn’t missed though! 🙂
