2014 – The halfway point

Can you believe it’s halfway through 2014 already?

I feel like my mother when I say this year is flying by but it’s true. Do you think 2014 is fast or is it just us?

Back in January I shared this list on Hair Romance inspired by Styling You and Meet Me at Mike’s. Sam at The Annoyed Thyroid also updated her list for the mid-year point and I thought it was a great way to mark how 2014 is going for us.

By the way, we wrote our lists separately and just combined them for this post. I love how similar some of our responses are, and how random others are.

Mr and Mrs Romance - 2014 the halfway point

Making…

Mr: Mrs Romance breakfast when she’s not expecting it.
Mrs: More travel plans. Trying to tick some places off my bucket list.

Cooking…

Mr: On gas!
Mrs: My peanut butter choc chip cookies, and getting ready for a dinner party this Saturday night.

Drinking…

Mr: new Australian craft gins.
Mrs: Gin cocktails and making sure our fridge is stocked with champagne.

Reading…

Mr: Game of Thrones obsessively.
Mrs: Renegade collective magazine, Xero for Dummies and lots of blogs.

Wanting…

Mr: George R R Martin to hurry the hell up and finish writing Game of Thrones!
Mrs: The weather to warm up a little. I’m no good at winter. Even the mild Sydney winters are too cold for me.

Looking…

Mr: Forward to the next half of 2014!
Mrs: Forward to some big adventures ahead.

Playing…

Mr: The beer pundit with some amazing Australian craft beers recently!
Mrs: Around with my camera and trying to teach myself to take better still life / food photos.

Deciding…

Mr: Where our next travel destination will be…
Mrs: To listen to my body more, and take it a bit easier.

Wishing…

Mr: There were more hours in the day and that Red Bull did an intravenous version.
Mrs: Australia had made it past the group stage in the World Cup.

Enjoying…

Mr: Instagram!
Mrs: Life. Things are pretty good right now.

Waiting…

Mr: For the Sydney winter because the summer was so hot – now I’m cold, so I’m waiting for the summer again!
Mrs: For peony season.

Liking…

Mr: How Katrina from TheOrganisedHousewife.com.au dealt with her cybersquatting incident.
Mrs: Fat Mum Slim’s new Little Moments app. I think it may get us playing Photo A Day again.

Wondering…

Mr: If bellybutton fluff and pocket fluff are the same thing and where it all comes from.
Mrs: Where the first half of 2014 went!

Loving…

Mr: Working with Christina on Mr & Mrs Romance.
Mrs: That my friend just became a mum. It has been a very long journey. I cried when I saw the message that she had a baby girl.

Pondering…

Mr: Aforementioned bellybutton fluff.
Mrs: Some new goals for 2014 and beyond.

Considering…

Mr: A new ebook idea.
Mrs: Moving house…I love our place but considering a change.

Watching…

Mr: House of Cards and Orange is the New Black… and lots of great shows actually.
Mrs: Orange is the new black.

Hoping…

Mr: To finish writing my first fiction novel this year.
Mrs: That our new blog design will take shape soon.

Marvelling…

Mr: Mrs Romance’s genius every single day.
Mrs: How much fun it is to work together.

Needing…

Mr: More sleep – especially after this World Cup – but knowing I probably won’t get it!
Mrs: To get organised, and maybe hire someone to work with us on a few projects. It’s time to admit I need some help.

Smelling…

Mr: Those peanut butter choc chip cookies coming out of the oven! Thank you, Mrs Romance!
Mrs: The salty air during our weekend at the beach.

Mr and Mrs Romance - 2014 so far

Wearing…

Mr: My new beard – pretty sure Mrs R still thinks of it as a surrogate pet.
Mrs: Stripes, stripes and more stripes. Note to self, buy some clothes that aren’t striped!

Following…

Mr: Mrs Romance around shops – it’s an art form!
Mrs: The World Cup.

Noticing…

Mr: how much Mrs Romance likes getting flowers. Always surprises me!
Mrs: The little things that Mr R does for me, like warming up my side of the bed, and really appreciating them.

Knowing…

Mr: The rest of this year’s going to be effin’ awesome!
Mrs: That the best is yet to come.

Thinking…

Mr: About last year’s trip to the States and all the food that’s been making my bathroom scales unhappy ever since!
Mrs: About friends overseas, and hoping to visit them soon.

Feeling…

Mr: So proud of Mrs Romance when her hardcopy book cracked the US and UK markets and then got picked up by Murdock Publishing for Australia! Incredible!
Mrs: Excited about the second half of 2014.

Admiring…

Mr: My amazing wife as she constantly breaks new ground in the hair industry with Hair Romance.
Mrs: Friends taking big chances and following their dreams.

Sorting…

Mr: Out our editorial calendar.
Mrs: Our house out. I’m on a mission to de-clutter everything.

Buying…

Mr: Flights up to Brisbane to spend this Australia Day with my brother – and visiting Nikki from Styling You in her new house! Time to buy tickets for a return trip.
Mrs: New shoes. That part of my wardrobe does not need de-cluttering 😉

Getting…

Mr: Published on ProBlogger!
Mrs: Up early for stair runs, though I have missed a few weeks lately.

Bookmarking…

Mr: All of Steph from LipstickAndCake.com’s recipes. Drool!
Mrs: Lots of inspiration on Pinterest.

Disliking…

Mr: Lots of things: Jamie Oliver, signs using ‘everyday’ when they mean ‘every day’, people not looking when they walk out of shops and bumping into me, a strange low subsonic rumble from nearby road works that wakes me up every morning… and being a ranter.
Mrs: The state of my inbox. Also disliking how much time I have to spend on emails.

Opening…

Mr: My birthday scotch! Thank you, Mrs Romance. X
Mrs: Champagne bottles!

Giggling…

Mr: At Smaggle.com’s daily dose of comic genius… and this pic below 🙂
Mrs: At Mr R’s jokes. I know I’ve heard a lot of them before but he still manages to come up with new ones to make me laugh.

Cool! Looking forward to reading it, Sonia!
As for the bellybutton fluff, I know I’m not alone! And why is it always the same colour? It’s always that blue-grey colour, even if it’s unlike any colour clothing you’ve worn in the past decade! Hmm.

Great list guys! Now please hurry up and finish reading Game of Thrones so you can tell me what happens and put me out of my misery!

      Mr Romance

Thanks, Sammie! I’m reading as fast as I can – but things are happening in the show that don’t in the books. It’s getting quite confusing – like I’m experiencing two parallel dimensions of Game of Thrones! But I’ll do my best, just for you! 😉
