They can be pretty addictive, can't they, Sammie? I remember the first bottle of port I ever bought. It was from a winery in the Swan Valley in WA. I was with a bunch of backpackers at the time on a booze cruise bus. I think everyone bought a bottle and then cracked it open on the bus on the way home. Very messy day. I managed to keep mine intact though and sent it back to the UK. Can't imagine having that kind of will power now!

In reply to <a href="https://mrandmrsromance.com/wine-of-the-month-would-you-buy-dessert-wine/#comment-94687">Elly</a>.

Yes, maybe that's the problem, Elly! I always equate sherry with my nan, who never really had a good eye for booze. I remember discovering a bottle of Harvey's Bristol Cream in my nan's cupboard. It had one of those special offers - you know the ones: "send off this voucher and 20 pounds and we'll send you these special Harvey's limited edition glasses."
The offer ran out in 1983. And those things never run out. I have no idea how long that bottle had been in the cupboard.

Sticky wines are my favourite and I always pick up a bottle from almost every winery I visit. I love port too, it's my favourite winter's night tipple. In fact, if I only ever drank port and dessert wines for the rest of my life I wouldn't be sorry!
