Hi Lara. The Kimberley is just unbelievable, isn’t it? You’re so lucky to have lived there. Our time was way too short there. Wish we could’ve stayed longer. Yes, we were onboard the Nat Geo Orion. It was amazing. Such a beautiful ship and the crew are just superb. Some of the people we met on the Orion had been to Borneo with Nat Geo too and they said they really loved it too. A real life experience. And I think that’s what this cruise really gives you.

Lived there for a while and travelled it through it months on end when updating LP WA guides. But it’s not clear, are you doing the Orion cruise or not? And if so, how is it? My friend did an overland trip from Darwin to Broome, Seana. This was about 20 years ago and he still talks about that trip now with great affection. I’d love to get up closer to the Bungle Bungles and check them out. They’re amazing, aren’t they?

The Kimberley from the ocean is something you definitely have to see. The National Geographic/Lindblad run this trip reasonably frequently – I think they go here every year – and I believe this is the only company that has naturalists in its crew. Good luck with the saving!

We did a 5 or 6 day backpacker-type camping trip from Kununurra to Broome and we did a walking trip to the Bungle Bungles too. Fantastic.

But one day I would love to do the ocean-view side, and to have naturalists and someone to explain the geology. And shall, once these pesky kids stop draining the family purse.
