Hey KT. Yes, gotta love those priority tickets. They’re a bit more expensive, but if you value your time as much as we do, they’re usually worth it.
Interesting about Easyjet. We also flew with them this July (Rotterdam to London Luton) and we were allowed to keep small items at our feet, though this was obviously a shorter flight than yours. I saw they were making people with larger bags check them in when space in the overheads had run out, which always happens on cheaper carriers, doesn’t it. We were really glad we didn’t have bags that were too big – I’d be very reluctant to put my laptop in the hold.
Well done for spotting this strange rule though – sign of a master traveller. Always worth checking the luggage conditions for your flight before you get on.

Re. low-cost airlines – I came across something new in July, when I flew via Easyjet from Porto (Portugal) to London. I arranged checked luggage for my big suitcase. For carry-on, I was travelling with a backpack containing my laptop and camera, and a small handbag to sit at my feet. I’m glad I read the small print, which said that you can bring only one bag onto the plane, and it has to be stored in the overhead compartment, i.e. nothing allowed at your feet. There was no weight restriction on this one carry-on bag, but if the plane was full and you had a large bag at the gate, it would be stored under the plane – no extra cost, but you have to wait to collect your bag from the carousel. It was really strange to have to shove my handbag into the backpack (which wasn’t too big and did fit into the overhead compartment), and then put a few things in my pockets for boarding. I’m so used to having all my bit and pieces to hand at my feet – phone, earphones, book, purse, passport, mints, tissues, etc… I was not a fan!!

Thanks Daisy. Yes, it’s the best feeling marching on ahead of everyone, isn’t it? And you don’t have to wrestle for your seat either. We had a similar argument with a guy at the Empire State Building in NYC. We had priority tickets to go to the very top and jumped the queue accordingly. This old guy got so angry he was shouting at us and ranting. Excellent! Jx

Hi Ruby. Yes, I’ve heard you can acquire quite the wealth of travel goodies at Poundland. It’s also especially good to visit if you’re alone and life’s making you feel lonely. I’ve never had much luck with inflatable pillows though – perhaps it’s because I have a rather thick neck!
