It’s amazing how clockwork the weather in the tropics is, isn’t it, Fairlie? Shame you didn’t get to see Broome in the dry. It’s much easier to get around… and not as rainy!
I was really surprised by Darwin, I must say. The last time we were there (about a decade ago!) there were none of the highrises in the CBD – there wasn’t even really a CBD – and the Waterfront hadn’t been built yet. Big improvements. We really like Darwin too.

I’ll be looking forward to seeing your posts about Broome. The only time I’ve been to Broome, we arrived on the last day of the dry season. The following night, the most spectacular storm saw the walls of our hotel room turn into an indoor water feature, and the landscape outside totally transform overnight. It’s a really interesting place, as is Darwin which is one of my favourite places.
