Postcards from Venice, Italy

Venice is a city that seems made for tourists, but there is a real heart beneath the crowds. Come and explore the tiny alleys and canals that make up this iconic Italian city that you must visit.

Mr and Mrs Romance - Postcards from Venice Italy

We shared our 5 things you must do in Venice, Italy and we stand by those, but we really wanted to focus on that extra tip of allowing time to wander.

From the top of St Mark’s bell tower you see a sea of terracotta rooftops, the streets and canals are so narrow you can hardly believe it. It’s easy to get lost wandering through them, and that’s where the real fun begins.

I’ve been to Venice several times now – with my family, on my own and most recently with Mr Romance – and each time I see something new. Even travelling the same path you’ll notice different things, meet new people and take away a whole other side to Venice.

I recommend avoiding the heaving summer crowds and try to plan your visit for autumn or spring instead. If you do visit in winter, you’ll find some places are closed, but you’ll have the city to yourself.

Put away your map, take your vaporetto ticket and wear comfortable shoes. Venice is a romantic city that needs more than a guided day trip to really experience it. Enjoy some of our postcards from Venice.
